Everyone is talking about the high school drop out rate in this country. What gets me is that they all act as if the solution is so hard. They are going into these middle schools and high schools trying to figure out what to do. As early childhood professionals, we can give them the answer if they would all just listen. You have to start from the bottom and move up, Early Childhood Education, that is the key!

ReplyDeleteHello, I definitely agree with your comment that early education is key. However, I would like to add that while early education is key to builder a better society that we cannot stop trying to fix the problems that our youth and adults face today. I would say that our issues are two-fold. Create a better future for those that will be born, but also continue to be proactive and work on the issues that the ones already here face daily.
ReplyDeleteHi Martha,
ReplyDeleteEarly childhood education is the prevention to many of our social problems.Instead of focusing on intervention and treatment, more can be done if like you said "We start from the bottom and move up". As professionals, we must plant and cultivate that seed so that those children grow up emotionally secure and stable. You have an interesting viewpoint. Thank you
